About Us

History

Founded in 1994, Tickets for Kids® Charities (TFK) is a Pittsburgh-based 501(c)(3) that was established after noticing the excessive number of empty seats at many of the city’s shows, games and events. The goal was to fill those seats with children and families from the area, preferably from a more diverse demographic, for whom cost of admission was prohibitive. As the only regional organization devoted exclusively to this mission — and one of a few in the country — we have reached more than 1.4 million individuals since our inception.

What We Do

TFK obtains tickets to arts, cultural, educational, family entertainment and sporting events through a network of providing partners that includes individuals, sports teams, theaters, museums, zoos, aquariums, amusement parks, colleges, universities, local and national producing agencies and others. TFK then distributes those tickets through social-service agency partners to thousands of children and their families throughout the year.

Agencies seeking tickets from TFK must be certified 501(c)(3) and serve low-income or at-risk children. Accountability requirements for the agencies include attendance at a mandatory orientation, signing a binding contract agreeing to the appropriate use of tickets and submitting post-event reports documenting ticket usage, transportation, general feedback and event highlights.
